ChimboteChimbote is the largest city in the Ancash Region of Peru. It is also the capital of the Santa Province and the Chimbote District. The city is located on the coast in Chimbote Bay, south of Trujillo and 422 kilometers north of Lima. Chimbote is the largest fishing port in Peru. The mouth of the bay has five miles width and is closed from North to South by the Blanca, Ferrol del Norte Ferrol del Medio and Ferrol del Sur islands. At the same time, these islands cause three channels of entrance to the Paso del Norte, Paso del Medio y Paso Ferrol bays. The Chimbote hills form the outer north of the bay. They reach up to 575 meters above sea level, meanwhile, a rocky set that ends in a small islet forms the outer south. This islet is formed by the Peninsula hill that measures 521 meters of height.
